The Arch in a very good day...

29th October 2008 (Part II)

As I arrived at the site, I was fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of the golden flower design above the arch during sunset. I was yet again very astonished with the bright shining golden colour... Beautiful!!!

House of Syafi & Safiya's Arch is now done!

28th October 2008

Alhamdullillah, the weather today is generally fine accept for some isolated showers near the coastal and inland areas (taken from the local weather forecast). As I arrived at the site, I was astonished to see that the flower design and triangular beam had been fully painted. This afternoon too, I was informed that the workers will start laying floor tiles in the living room. However after further consultation with the construction manager, he suggested that we wait until the ceiling is done in order to avoid scratches on the floor tiles. The ceiling works will also start by tomorrow.

Enjoy the pics below...

The whole overview

I just can't stop staring at the golden flower design. It looks magnificent!!!

Mr. Addin (the painter) told me that he used 3 coats of gold paint for the golden flower design and at noon (when the sun was up), it looks very bright and shiny.

Trying out the exterior wall paint with darker outline for the ground floor. Not sure if this looks alright or not.. but at first glance it doesn't look that bad at all. This is yet to be confirmed soon... with my wife of course!

Progress despite the rainy weekend...

27th October 2008

Since it was raining for quite sometimes, the workers still managed to make some progress inside and outside the house. The sun also started to come out today which give an opportunity for Mr. Addin to apply undercoat above the arch.

Hari Raya with Jemaah Masjid Pulaie

26th October 2008

After the 'kuliah' Subuh (early Morning religious talk) at Masjid Kampong Pulaie, all of the jemaah was invited to a Hari Raya 'treat' at one of the jemaah's house at Kampong Delima Satu. Although heavy rain was still pouring since last night, his house was almost packed with all of the Masjid Pulaie's 'jemaah' or guests. The food was excellent as there a lot of delicious varieties prepared for the guests. Among some on the menu were Soto rindu, Nasi Ayam or Chicken rice, Fried Kew Taw, Tumpi (or local fried pancake) with beef curry and Kelupis and my personal favorite, mini baked potato with egg and cheese.

One of the fruit served to the guest known as 'Salak' covered with a very hard skin which resemble an armadilla . Once open, the flesh looks like an apple and taste almost the same as the Marinda green apple drink.

Rare footage of the house...

25th October 2008

Despite the wet weather this weekend, I had tonnes of list to do. Early in the morning, I was waiting in line at the pharmacy section at Sengkurong Clinic for my in laws medicine. After a quick peek at the site, which was 1 minute drive from the clinic, I went to Nordin Jaya (Cotto) for looking some bathroom fixtures. This morning, I also received the quotation from Mr. Luis for the ceiling design. Before noon, I had an appoitment with Mr. Lai (my architect) and Mr. Thomas (construction manager) regarding the ceiling design and quotation. I also managed to go to Top Deco at Jangsak for getting some paints and browsing at the cornice design.

I had never recalled taking an upclose shot at this side of the house before

The dynamic duo, Mr. Lai and Mr. Thomas outside the balcony. Mr. Lai will give the design of the balcony sometimes next week for the workers to start working on it. Thank you to both of you for helping me out with the ceiling design and most importantly helping me with the cost as well.
