Starting New Year with a fever

9th January 2009

First of all, I hope it's not too late for this... We would like to wish everyone Happy New Year 2009! Time really does fly, doesn't it? Well... it's not really a great start for myself, because the whole family had the fever, cough and cold. The whole house seems to be affected, including my in-laws and even the maid and gardeners! And of course this would explain why there has been a long delay since my last update. Thankfully, the fever is now gone, except for a little cough and cold for my wife, Syafi and Safiya. Hope everyone will get well soon.

Anyway, there has definitely been lots of progress with our house construction. Almost all tiling works is done and even the outdoor concrete driveway is ready. Currently some workers are finalising the front area, the road access as well as the outer drainage is almost complete, just as we are required to provide to the government for public use.

With regards to electrical works, we have finally bought the large chandelier which has been installed on top of the double staircases. We decided to go for a moderate size so as not to disrupt the view through the main foyer window. Oh, did I mention that our windows have been installed? Hehehe... With a little peace of mind now that rain water no longer wets the indoors, we are confident enough to let the aircon company to start install our air-conditioners. Still, with doors yet to be installed (hopefully within these few days), our precious chandeliers for the main living room and dining room will have to wait at the shop! Hehehe...

Enough writing, please enjoy these pics.. Especially for Sateria Pahlawan and wife, I know both of you have been waiting for an update! So here goes...

A new look... Windows!

Windows from inside the house. Notice the effect with and without the glass.

Tiling works at the dry kitchen

It took two workers four days to complete the staircases

A closer look

Tiling works at the main foyer

Informal living room all done

The first floor foyer... the only area with tiles since all rooms will be covered with laminated timber floors

The large chandelier.. It took the workers half a day to hang the masterpiece and then arrange the crystals one by one. Oh, and we decided at the last minute to have the dome painted with golden paint. It really goes well with the chandelier... hehehe...

Air-conditioners at the prayer room (on the right) and informal living room (on the left)

Hehehe... My contractor, Mr Thomas, showing his worker the boundaries of the public access and drainage. You don't get to see the boss sweating out like this everyday!
